Good piece. One angle worth adding to the META thesis: Chinese ad spend went from $7.4B to $18.35B in two years on a platform that's banned inside China. Temu, Shein, BABA — they're losing a domestic price war and their escape route runs directly through META's pipes. That's not an ad business. That's a geopolitical toll road, and almost nobody is underwriting it that way.

Jacob thank you for shining a light on the reality of what’s happening with tech & layoffs. My sister just experienced this at LinkedIn a week ago…having to adapt your thinking to “exceptional=at risk” is a mind-fuck. Sending this to her as your insights into what she can do to empower herself through this shift are valuable. 🙏🏽

My gods. You're going to tell these people they should ADAPT to AI? Not limit, control, or destroy it?

Or get out of the field altogether. We need trades and crafts people badly. And people smart enough to figure out how a city can keep its potholes filled.

Man that’s creepy. Wonder if anyone will mention it besides you. Courageous of you to do that.
